The Bridge of Sighs

I know scaffolding can be ugly, but I can't say I find coating the sights and landmarks in advertising any more beautiful. Sigh.

I feel like my penchant for finding monuments under construction is following you, I guess we spent too much time in Paris...it must have rubbed off! Sorry about that! On the other hand, it is interesting to see how different sites choose to work around the problem of having to erect the barricades for safety reasons. It's kind of nice when they decide to do more than just a plywood fence.
I love seeing all of the architectural details you've gotten a chance to notice on this 'second pass'. Good Work!
BTW, I happen to feel that art is supposed to be for all, but we can pick and choose what we like and wish to support by purchasing or funding the artist/exhibit. I also think that it's especially beautiful when art elevates us. Maybe some of the controversial art of late that was debasing other items was really intended to do just that, make us think about how we treat our world, the people in it and ourselves. (See? I like it that art makes us think!)

If I may add my two cents to the "art is for...." discussion and I think we may have had this discussion once upon a time. I do art for me, no one else. It pleases me to do it, and if I'm pleased with the outcome that's all I really care about. If someone else likes it all the better, but not my empitus or goal.
